WTF: Speed Timer
Speed is everything in track & field — and now you can measure it with nothing more than a webcam or your phone camera.
Speed Timer is a tool in QuickMeet that uses motion detection to automatically time athletes across any distance you set.
Here's how it works:
Measure your preferred distance and place a cone at each end.
Set up your camera perpendicular to where the athletes will be running and drag the on-screen Start and Finish lines to match the cones.
Hit Start Monitoring — and walk away.
When your athlete crosses the Start line, the timer starts automatically. When they cross the Finish line, it stops.
Speed in mph and m/s appears instantly and is recorded in the table at the bottom of the screen.
The camera resets in three seconds, so no need to fiddle with things in between each athlete.
No stopwatch. No finger on a button. No reaction-time error.
You can also connect two cameras — one at Start, one at Finish — for even more precise detection across longer distances.
Every time is saved automatically, just assign an athlete to a time when it's convenient.
Speed Timer is available now in your QuickMeet dashboard.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
